Catavino’s Port Lodge Map
The Catavino Port Lodge Map was created to solve a problem: to help wine enthusiasts from around the world find lodges that met their criteria. Maybe they needed wheelchair accessibility, were focused on Late Vintage Ports or needed a place to lunch while sipping on a White Port and Tonic. Whatever their need, we saw an opportunity to create a map that provided ample information for them to make an educated and informed choice, not to mention, directions to get there!
José Miguel Cardoso is the brilliant artist behind the illustrations. Born and bred in Porto, Jose was born with a passion to draw. Lying under his sheets as a toddler, his crayons spread across his sheets, José would spend hours sketching his favorite images. And with the support of his loving parents, that passion was only nurtured to become a profession. Currently a Professor of Product Design at the University of Minho in Guimarães, Portugal, he also works as a Freelance designer
"This wasn’t ‘just’ a map, it was a dialogue between the landscape and the map. The challenge was to actively listen and share the conversation."
The printing company, Guide.pt, was founded in 1972 and is based in Lisbon. We’ve used this company for several other projects and have consistently been impressed with their work!
